The Rice Farm as been in our family for 4 generations, and all this time on the same land. Our Great Grandpa, Matthew Rice, immigrated from Ireland at the beginning of the last century. He bought this land so he could farm and try to make a living (1905-1928). This is about the same time he met his wife Anna March and they were married on the same farm we live on today.

They had three children, Janet, Robert, Marie. Robert (Bob) continued to farm (1929-1978) after the death of this dad. Bob married Rose Sturgis and they had three children Judy, Roy, Robert.

Roy married Carol Rider and they had two children Sandi, Randy. Roy started to farm (1978-1995) after the death of his dad.

Randy met his wife Lesa Berry and with the retirement of Roy. Randy and Lesa stated to farm (1995-present day) and they have two children, Remington and Alexandra. Who knows maybe someday we will have 5 generations (we can only hope).

As you can tell we have been farming here for a long time. During this time we have seen a lot of good times, bad times, wars, a desperation, way to many resections. But in all this time we have never forgot who our customers where.

Now on to what and why we sell what we do. With today's meats you can not tell where or how it was raised and with what. We at Rice Farm do not use any chemicals to raise our meats.

Why would we take such a different direction? As you may know today's meat is raise as fast as it can be, about 12 to 18 months. The use of growth hormones and steroids is ramped in the meat industry. Livestock are confined to overcrowded pens and feed lots. Some livestock never walk on grass pastures let a lone see daylight.

We at Rice Farm raise our meats to roam pastures in the summer and in the winter they can go outside when ever they want. We grow all our own crops to feed during the winter  months and all of our animals drink spring fed water. For our cattle it takes about 2 1/2 years to raise one of them to be ready for sale, our lambs about 10 months, hogs 120 days and chickens 90 days.

When it is time for one of our animals to be processed it is done so in the most humane way at a U.S.D.A. inspected facility. Then, for our beef and lamb, it is let to hang for 10 days to so it can age. Then on the tenth day we personal over see the cutting and packaging (vacuum sealed). So we can guarantee to the quality of our meets, and we have a notarized affidavit stating this to you.

So please try some of our all natural meats you will see and taste the differents.

Thank-You,

Rice Farm
